Victoria outisde of her commercial kitchen

It’s been 6 months since I posted regarding client Victoria Deroche and her idea for a new business – Pizza Tonight.

In that time, Victoria has been a very busy lady. She obtained a business license, a shared kitchen space at Nate’s Taco Truck Stop on 2nd and Marshall, and is now selling in various locations all over Richmond! She’s also become quite the darling of the Richmond food blogging scene. Everyone seems to want to try a piece of the pie – and rightly so.

And just last week, Victoria welcomed a Mobile Pizza Oven to her home! Soon she will be selling pizza by the pie and by the slice (in addition to her regular line of goods) at the South of the James Farmers Market, so customers can enjoy the instant satisfaction of a crisp crust, pleasingly tart sauce, and gooey mozarella while perusing the other market booths.

Victoria has become a model for other would-be entrepreneurs. She is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when you pay attention to the details and work hard. Victoria’s story inspires many of my current clients, as I use examples from our experience together to carry on NVNV’s mission of changing lives.

Pizza Tonight's first part-time employee

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that, also in the 6 months since my last post, I have become close friends with Victoria, attending pizza club parties (where I’ve met many more excellent friends,) and eventually coming to work for Victoria part-time. I can now say that I am not only a fan of Pizza Club, I’m also a member…nay, an employee.

So, come visit us at the South of the James Market this Saturday from 10-12! Or visit the website!

Also, this week, NVNV is offering one of the classes that helped Victoria on her way: Turning Dough into Dough – The Mathematics of Cooking for Profit with Chris Street from Performance Food Group. Chris provides worksheets and practical examples to help participants price their recipes appropriately! It is a wonderful resource for anyone who wants to sell food in a retail setting!

There’s more to come this week – including client profiles and information on a partnership between NVNV and The Market Umbrella! Stay tuned!
